New police officer happy to follow family tradition

He grew up in the area and never went too far from home, but Mark Hennigar just recently donned a Clarion Police Officer uniform.  Hennigar is the newest officer hired by the Clarion Police Department. He has been on the job for less than a month, but is looking forward to getting to work and making Clarion an even stronger community.

As a kid, Hennigar was around police officers, but not because he was a bad kid. His dad Steve was a Clarion officer from 1981 to the time he retired as Chief in 2014. Hennigar jokes that he “grew up in a cop car” and was riding around with his dad by the age of seven. He credits his dad with being an inspiration to him. Hennigar adds that he “loved how people looked up to him and how he got to help people.”
