Meadows independent living residents will be living in style after new renovations

The Meadows Independent Senior Living Community opened its doors last week for an open house to show off their recent renovations. The facility, a division of Iowa Specialty Hospital, got a bit of a makeover in the last several months and is ready to be enjoyed.

The independent living wing of the Meadows, which also has an assisted living section, accepts residents 55 or older. Carla Kem, the facility’s leader and volunteer coordinator, explains that in this independent living community, residents take care of most of their own needs. Noon meals and some housekeeping services are provided but for the most part, they are in charge of their own day and care. Kem says that some of the perks of the facility are that it is directly attached to Iowa Specialty Hospital, a pharmacy and the Wildflower Café. There are also several activities that the residents can take part in such as bingo, devotions and card parties.
