Local community theater hopes to offer space to make face masks

Iowa River Players Community Theater in Rowan has plenty of space and a few sewing machines. Now they are looking for some supplies and eager hands to help with the construction of face masks that healthcare workers can use.

Theater director Luanne Krabbe is inviting volunteers to help sew, iron, cut, measure and pin masks. She has consulted local healthcare officials who have confirmed that these masks would be useful in Wright County. Krabbe also assures potential volunteers that the theater is big enough to allow for ample social distancing.

Useful supplies that people could donate or bring include fabric, thread, irons, scissors, Olfa cutter & cutting pad, ruler or straight edge, pins or tiny sewing clips, or even your own sewing machine. If you’re unable to sew or bring supplies, Krabbe says snacks are always appreciated.

Krabbe invites people to reach out to her and plan a time to come to the theater and help with this important effort. She can be reached at 319-231-7828 or luannekrabbe@gmail.com.
