Livengood signs letter of intent to Morningside College

Mikaela Livengood signed a letter of intent last week to attend Morningside College in Sioux City. She received scholarships for golf, academics and music. She is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and has been on the Honor Roll each semester of high school.

Livengood has also represented her high school at All-State Chorus, Meistersingers and Dorian Festival to name a few.

In golf, she has been a two-time state participant individually and both a 2nd Team All-State and 2nd Team All-Tournament selection the past two years.

She has participated in the Iowa Junior PGA Tour for three years, winning her age group as Player of the Year for the past two years.

“I watched her at state last year, and then the first time I met her I knew right away she was what we were looking for,” said Morningside golf coach Todd Sapp. “She’s a great student with a great golf game. It’s hard to be on the All-American Team and also be a top student.

"I believe Mikaela has that ability. She’s a great player now, but we hope to get her to become a better player yet. She loves golf, and you have to have that passion to be successful," Sapp continued.

“I felt really good about Morningside after my visit,” said Mikaela. “It felt right for me, and I think coach Sapp can really help me.”

She plans to major in Journalism & Communication, and feels it’s also the right choice for that degree.

“This is exciting for me,” said Cowgirl coach Dan Smith. “She, along with her sister Brittany, has done a lot for our program. I believe as good a golfer as she is, she’s even a better person.”
