Johnson provides overview of drainage agreement

The annexation of approximately 14 acres of land into Drainage District #39 will extend the district further to the south.

County Drainage Attorney David Johnson highlighted the annexation as just one of the elements of the drainage agreement between Larry Anderson, a landowner in DD #23, and the Wright County Board of Supervisors.

The continued hearing involving DD #39 and DD #23 took place during the meeting on November 17.

And it will be continued during the December 1 meeting at 10 a.m.

"Larry Anderson and his attorney need a little more time to look over it," Johnson explained. "But I am going to going over the basics of what is included in the agreement."

Besides the establishment of a new boundary between the two drainage districts, 25 feet of tile on each side of it will be broken.

While the side in DD #39 will be plugged, on the other side, Anderson will install a new tile that will redirect his water to keep it in DD #23.

According to County Drainage Clerk Deb Lukes, he will have to pay for this out of his own pocket.

In addition to this, Johnson stated that the agreement will mean suspending doing anything further concerning the two drainage districts, for the time being.

The Board unanimously agreed to continue the hearing during the county meeting on December 1. The hearing will begin at 10 a.m.
