Jen Sheehan gifted at helping people as county’s disabilities coordinator

Serving as Wright County’s Disabilities Coordinator since 2014, Jen Sheehan works with people with mental health and disability issues. “I feel like this work is my calling,” she said. “I like to see a person get a job who has been searching for several months.  Or when someone finds safe housing. It is gratifying when that happens.” She especially likes it when someone calls to apologize for not talking with her for a longer time. To Sheehan, it means the caller is getting along better without help.

A Clarion-Goldfield graduate in 2005 and a University of Iowa graduate in 2008 with a degree in social work, Sheehan began her work career in Franklin County. “I became a case manager for Medicaid waivers in Wright County in 2012,” she said. “It was a good fit because we lived here.” Family includes her husband Joe; J.J. who is a first grader; Lincoln, a pre-schooler; and Hunter who is now nine months old.
