Humane Society raffle going on now

“I rode motorcycles all my life, and had animals all my life.”

So said Stan Riedel, a retired truck parts salesman and daredevil from Rowan. Riedel has always been passionate about rescue dogs, and has for a long time driven and raced vehicles of many kinds. Now, Riedel is putting those two passions together with a special raffle.

To raise money for the Humane Society of Wright County—of which his daughter, Marcia Burt, is president—Riedel decided to sell raffle tickets for a motorcycle over a period of several months.

Wherever he goes in Wright County, he will be bringing his orange truck, which also has printed the details of the raffle. Tickets are $10, with one winner receiving the new Indian motorcycle, and five others winning $100. Riedel has already been selling tickets for several weeks and will continue to do so until the July 7 drawing.

He hopes people will spread the word.

“It makes a heck of a difference for a good cause,” he said.
