Heartland Museum begins 2018 season

The Heartland Museum kicked off their start to the 2018 season with their annual open house on May 18. Visitors came to bid on silent auction items and enjoy good company, and also to get an early look at the year’s museum exhibits for free.

While there is much to see at the Museum, including several additions over the last year, one of the most exciting changes is still to come: the opening of the 4-H Schoolhouse Museum as part of the tour.

Linda Klem is the Heartland Museum board member who is overseeing most of the schoolhouse renovation. While there is a lot of work yet to be done—painting, polishing, window and blind replacements, in addition to finalizing the interior exhibits—she tentatively hopes that the schoolhouse will be ready for tours at the end of June.

Half of the schoolhouse will be dedicated to showing the history of 4-H. The other half will focus on the country school experience, which is still a living memory for some local people.
