Hanson family's MACH 3 Enterprises at the Clarion Public Library

The Clarion Public Library’s second summer activity brought in a local family of performers, the Hanson family with MACH 3 Enterprises, to surprise and entertain on July 19. The seven-member family group performed some great stunts and also encouraged children to read more about what they want to do and recycle what they can to have fun.

The five children of the family—Christa, Anna, Matthew, Luke, and Caleb—joined their father, Mark, in a series of performances showing off unicycle and juggling tricks, and even combined them both at the same time. Adults and children alike enjoyed the performance. “This age kids are the perfect audience,” Mark Hanson said.

The Hansons live in nearby Kanawha. When they started doing library shows three years ago, the Clarion Public Library was one of the 13 libraries they first visited.

Mark said starting the family show was something of a gradual development. “As the kids learned how to unicycle, we started performing in parades,” he said. After that, they were asked to perform at their county fair. Then they started developing their library and school shows. Their second summer of performing, they performed in 47 libraries. This year, they’ll have 115 shows, sometimes performing 3 a day. The Hansons have also performed with the Harlem Globetrotters.
