Forest E. Knight

Forest E. Knight, 87, of Clarion, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at his home.

He will be cremated and a private family burial will be held at a later date.

Forest Edgar, son of Lisle and Edith (Gould) Knight, was born on July 11, 1934 on a farm in rural Clay county. He grew up in the Spencer area and graduated from Spencer High School. After high school, Forest joined the Army where he worked as a radar operator. When Forest returned to Spencer, he started his career in the automobile industry. He owned and operated two local gas and service stations, a tank wagon service, a muffler shop, and later a car dealership in Spencer and Storm Lake.

On September 1, 1957, Forest was united in marriage to Janice Peterson in Hartley. The couple was blessed with three children.

Forest was a lifelong member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. He also served on the city council, volunteered on the fire department, and was a member of the American Legion Post.

Forest later met Judy Russell at a dance in Lake City. He moved to Clarion with Judy, where he has resided for the past 20 years. Forest enjoyed going golfing with Judy and his coffee time in Clarion.

Forest is survived by his sons Scott Knight of Sheldon and Bradley (Lori) Knight of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren April Knight, Katie Knight, Charles Knight, Kristofer Knight, and Aaron Knight; five great-grandchildren; sister Linda Birchard of Spencer; special friend Judy Russell of Clarion and her family; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Janice; daughter Kristi; daughter-in-law Emily; granddaughter Amanda; parents Lisle and Edith; sisters Marian and Eleanor; and brothers Harold and William.
