Eagles get past Cowgirls 7-6

The latest edition of the in-county softball rivalry between C-G-D and Eagle Grove resulted in a 7-6 win by the Eagles in an exciting game last Tuesday on their home field. Each team plated one score in the first and three more runs in the second. A two-out double by Vanessa Kolb set the table in the first, with Emma Schluttenhofer bringing her in two batters later. Gabby Hackley reached on a base hit in the second, with Kendall Lienemann advancing her on a walk. Emily Kapka then scored courtesy runner Jade Larue (for Hackley), with Courtney Harle bringing Lienemann home and Kapka scoring on a passed ball.

After the Eagles took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth, the red & black proceeded to grab a 6-5 advantage for themselves. Quinn Hansch was hit by a pitch to put her on base, with Hackley advancing her. Kapka brought her in from second base, with Emily also scoring before the inning was over. The Cowgirls would get three more runners on over the last three innings, but could not produce any runs from it.
