Donna Hill

Donna M. Hill, 81 of rural Clarion, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Funeral services for Donna Hill will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Father Jerry Blake officiating.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in rural Woolstock.

Visitation for Donna Hill will be held from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion.

Donna Marie Craig was born October 19, 1940 to Donald and Ione (King) Craig in Mason City, Iowa.  She lived there until moving to Clarion at the age of 15 to live with her foster mother, Elizabeth Ternberg until she married Robert D. Hill on July 27, 1961.  Together, the couple raised their four children in Clarion, where they made their home until moving to their acreage north of Holmes in 2005.

Donna worked a variety of jobs over the years, including at Meredith Corporation, at Wayne’s Tap and at the Knotty Pine before driving the CAT van for many years until her retirement.

Donna collected elephant figures, loved reading and taking trips with her sisters and Robert, whether on cruises or day trips to the casino.  She and Robert also had daily Yahtzee games and she loved family get-togethers with her children and grandchildren.

Donna was a longtime member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion.

Donna is survived by her husband, Robert of Holmes; daughters Penelope (Kenneth) Mohr of Eagle Grove, Rebecca Cantrell of Eagle Grove, Constance Hill of Altoona and Michele (John) Roach of Altoona; grandchildren Casey Thul of Eagle Grove, Mallory (Donavon) Lalor of Eagle Grove, Miranda Thul of Eagle Grove, Mariah (Jennifer) Fortune of Woolstock, Mercedes (Shane Meyer) Thul of Eagle Grove, Taya Morris of Bode, Nicholas (Tc Murphy) Cantrell of Eagle Grove, Selena (Nathan Larsen) Hill of Des Moines, Jasmine Hill of Altoona, Samantha Hill of Altoona, Thomas Roach of Altoona, Michael Roach of Altoona; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-granddaughter; her sisters Penny Dalluge of Mason City and Julie (Rex) Bergo of Mason City; her brother Jeff (Laura) Craig of Mason City; sisters-in-law Elsie Hill of Clarion and Patricia Mickelson of Eagle Grove; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Craig, Ione Asbury and Elizabeth Ternberg; her great-granddaughter Adaya Lalor; mother-in-law Mary Hill; her sister Marcia Weir Connell; her sisters-in-law Bonnie Hill and Lorine Meyer; her brothers-in-law Kenneth Hill, Gerald Hill, Clair Meyer, Keith Mickelson, David Dalluge and Bill Connell.
