Culpepper and Merriweather Circus in Clarion

Summer is a time when families can get together and have some fun. Sometimes, this involves a trip to go out and try something new. Sometimes, however, the fun comes to you.

This week, the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus out of Hugo, Oklahoma, set up near the high school in Clarion and gave two spectacular shows on Monday night. Close to 200 people filled the stands around the ring for the 7:30 performance, which contained feats of skill to enthrall, animals to delight, and jokes to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Key acts included a “lion-taming” act by Trey Key and his big cats, Francis the lion and Delilah the tiger; a trapeze show by Miss Simone, a “big and little” horse show by Miss Paulina, the Arlise unicycle act, and the Perez Duo performing a balancing act on the “Wheel of Destiny.” The show was woven together with humorous feats by Leo the clown. Leo even brought audience members down to assist with a few tricks.
