Cross country teams compete at Eagle Grove

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows cross country teams competed at the hilly golf course at Eagle Grove last Tuesday for the annual Dick Bell Invitational. Humboldt won the class A girls team title with just 27 points, followed by: Spencer 37, Algona 105, Estherville-Lincoln Central 112, Clear Lake 124, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 147 and the Cowgirls with 195.

“Running in class A sometimes gets the better of us,” stated head coach Missy Springsteen-Haupt. “As a small school running against much bigger opponents, it’s easy to feel defeated before we even begin.”

Stephanie Castro led the team with a 24:26.73 for 33rd overall. Following her on the Cowgirl team were: Katherine Lopez at 42nd in 25:12.29; Raven Kinnetz at 45th in 25:25.97; Angela Castro at 52nd in 25:38.03; Maya Jackson at 59th in 26:14.06; Kayleen Johnson at 61st in 26:28.80; Kylie Klaver at 67th in 26:55.92; Natalie Kirstein at 68th in 27:02.63; Brenna Harklau at 77th in 27:55.55; Jade LaRue at 81st in 28:18.04; Quinn Hansch at 82nd in 28:19.82; Maya LaRue at 84th in 28:52.42; Nicole Lorenzo at 101st in 38:54.21 and Katie Haberman at 102nd in 40:56.32.
