Cross country teams compete in Algona, Hampton

Last Tuesday at the River Road golf course, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows/CAL cross country teams took part in the Algona Invitational. The final girls team standings were unavailable at press time.         The Cowgirl varsity was led by Stephanie Castro in 61st at 23:35.39. She was followed by: Raven Kinnetz in 80th at 24:53.19; Angela Castro in 84th at 25:01.55; Maya Jackson in 95th at 25:50.43; Katherine Lopez in 97th at 26:01.21; Kayleen Johnson in 108th at 26:57.47 and Kylie Klaver in 112th at 29:38.07.

The Cowgirl JV team finished ninth, with Charles City the champion with 23 points. JV finishes for the Cowgirls were: Natalie Krstein in 50th at 27:25.42; Jackie Lopez in 51st at 27:25.71; Quinn Hansch in 70th at 28:59.82; Jade LaRue in 72nd at 29:06.17; Brenna Harklau in 74th at 29:11.83; Maya LaRue in 76th at 29:14.90; Nicole Lorenzo in 96th at 34:19.62 and Katie Haberman in 97th at 34:23.62.

The Cowboy varsity team finished 10th out of 17 full teams with 243 points. Clear Lake was team champion with 64, followed by Humboldt with 75 and Charles City with 77. Alex Rosenbaum was the team leader, coming home in 30th with an 18:20.16 clocking. He was followed by: Hayden Klaver in 33rd at 18:22.02; Luke Rapp in 46th at 18:36.78; Ben Rapp in 64th at 19:11.81; Max Powers in 75th at 19:20.56; Caleb Krueger in 99th at 20:47.45 and Isaiah Nebbe in 101st at 23:00.06.
