Cowgirls win their volleyball invitational again

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball team worked efficiently and rather easily through all six of their opponents last Saturday at the Cowgirl Invitational to once again take the team title.

They started the morning with a win over Eagle Grove by set scores of 21-1 and 21-6. Team serving was at 97.1 percent with Kendall Lienemann going 13 of 14 with six aces. Morgan Middleton pounded four kills in the attack mode.

They defeated Belmond-Klemme by sets of 21-3 and 21-8. The team served at 92.3 percent, with Jadyn Jondle at 12 of 13 with three aces and Alaina Friesleben 10 of 11 and also with three. She also made 12 assists at setter, with Middleton hitting eight kills. Jondle contributed seven digs on defense.

They defeated conference foe Clear Lake by scores of 21-12 and 21-18. Team serving was at 82 percent, with Friesleben going 8 of 10 with two aces. She made 21 assists for the attack, with Middleton making 12 kills. Jondle and Lienemann had four digs each and Middleton two solo blocks.

They took care of South Hamilton by scores of 21-6 and 21-10. Team serving was at 81.6 percent, with Lienemann 8 of 8. Friesleben made 16 assists to help set up Middleton for 10 kills. Morgan also added five digs in that match.
