Cowgirls take final two season matches and NCC title

The seventh ranked (2A) Cowgirl volleyball team was not about to share the North Central Conference title with anyone, and now they won’t have to after defeating Algona last Thursday by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-17. Team serving was just under 96 percent, with Morgan Middleton going 16 of 16 (five aces) and Nicole Waters 15 of 15 (three). Lexie Lane was 12 of 12 (one), Alaina Friesleben 10 of 11 (one) and Jadyn Jondle 10 of 12 (one). Kendall Lienemann was 7 of 7 (one) to finish the column.

Friesleben set the ball for 34 assists, with Jondle making four and Middleton one. Middleton pounded 21 kills in the attack at the net, with Lienemann making 12 from her spot. Lane chipped in six kills, Friesleben two and Jondle one to the total.

The 66 total digs were led by three ladies in double digits. Middleton made 24, Friesleben 17 and Jondle 10 saves. Waters made five, Lane and Lienemann four each and Emma Conlon two. Friesleben and Lane had a solo block each, while Alaina and Lexie joined Summer Traub in making one block assist apiece.

Prior to that, the red & black defeated Garner-Hayfield/Ventura in straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-12. Team serving was just over 97 percent, with Friesleben at 17 of 17 (one).
