Cowgirls score 30 total runs in two opening wins

For the first two games of the new Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball season, it was fun times for the Cowgirls as the optic yellow ball looked to be a lot bigger coming across the plate and you could hit about anything you wanted. When the dust settled, they combined for 25 total hits and 30 total runs in wins over West Hancock and Eagle Grove.

Versus the Eagles from the north on Monday night in Britt, a 17-4 win started with Emily Kapka reaching on a single in the first. Quinn Hansch did the same, putting two on. Faith Nelson ripped a double to score both. An Emma Schluttenhofer base hit then scored Nelson, with Vanessa Kolb scoring on an error after smacking a double. Paige Willey brought home Schluttenhofer, with Courtney Harle driving in Willey.

In the second, Hansch and Nelson stroked consecutive singles. Kolb brought Hansch home and Nelson would also score in the inning. In the third, Harle led with a base hit. Three batters later, Hansch reached on an error. Kolb ripped a double to drive in both Hansch and courtesy runner Remi Johnson (for Nelson), with Harle scoring on an error.
