Cowgirls pick up two wins in last week's action

Last Tuesday in Eldora, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity girls basketball team visited South Hardin and put a 50-37 thumping on the Tigers. It was 10-9 Cowgirls after a quarter, then 24-20 at halftime. The Cowgirls outscored the home team by nine points over the entire second half for the final margin.

Raven Kinnetz was an offensive juggernaut, draining 23 points including a red hot 8 of 9 from the charity stripe. Courtney Harle and Emily Kapka scored six points apiece, with Mariah Frye getting four points and Megan Askelsen three points. Maya Jackson, Quinn Hansch, Vanessa Kolb and Kendall Lienemann all had two points apiece to round it out.

“They tried a box and one on Megan, so she passed to Raven and she had a big night,” stated head coach Kevin Kakacek. “They put some pressure on us, and we didn’t handle it the right way in that first half. We played well the second half, and found what we needed.”
