Cowgirls pick up two more wins in past week

Last Thursday night in a home game, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity girls basketball team easily defeated Belmond-Klemme 56-27. The Cowgirls held a 28-14 margin at halftime, but then busted it open in outscoring the visitors 22 points to seven over the third period.

“This was a good game for us after the break,” stated head coach Kevin Kakacek. “Our focus comin into the game was to play great defense and the offense will take care of itself. We held them to 14 points in the first half, and that helped get our offense going. We had a great night from Quinn in hitting three three-pointers. This is something this team was needing and she did a great job of spotting up and the girls found her when she was open. With her and Raven hitting from the outside, Morgan was able to get some space to work inside. We are getting great leadership from our seniors on the floor.”
