Cowgirls lose to Iowa Falls-Alden in five

Last Thursday night at Iowa Falls-Alden, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking five-set match to the Cadets. Scores were W25-23, L27-25, W25-21, L25-19 and L15-7. Team serving was at 93.1 percent, with Haley Nerem going 23 of 25 (one ace). Vanessa Kolb was 18 of 19 (three), Kenna Kruger 15 of 16, Alaina Friesleben and Jadyn Jondle both 14 of 15 (Alaina two aces) and Megan Askelsen 10 of 11 (one).

Kruger set for 34 assists, with Friesleben getting in on 11 and Nerem one. Morgan Middleton tallied up 18 kills in the attack, with Nerem getting 16. Kolb added seven, Kylie Greenfield six, Emily Kapka four and Kruger one for the night.

Four girls finished in double-digit digs, with Nerem leading the way at 26 total followed by Askelsen at 22, Jondle at 12 and Friesleben at 11. Kruger added four, Kolb three and both Greenfield and Jondle one save of the ball each. Kapka made three solo blocks and Kolb one.
