Cowgirls drop regional opener at Pocahontas

Facing a top-rated Pocahontas Area team, and especially on their home court, proved a bit too much to handle for the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity girls in their regional tournament opener. As many teams have already found out this year, the Indians are determined to roll on to another state title and started it off with a 99-27 win over the Cowgirls.

Chloe Johnson and Hannah Terhark shared the scoring lead at six points each, with Vanessa Kolb scoring four points. Sid Magee and Maya Jackson both added three points each, with Courtney Harle and Megan Askelsen chipping in two points each. Emily Kapka scored one point. Harle grabbed seven rebounds to lead that column, with Johnson, Askelsen, Kolb and Terhark all getting their hands on three caroms each. Lauren Odland and Kapka both had one rebound.

Harle and Lili Swanson each had an assist, with Odland and Harle making two steals each. Magee, Johnson, Swanson and Kolb all added one steal each to their final lines. Johnson and Terhark each made a blocked shot.
