Cowgirls defeat West Fork 10-8

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball team snapped a three-game skid with a nice 10-8 home win over West Fork last Thursday. Courtney Harle, Megan Askelsen, Faith Nelson and Emily Kapka all pounded out two hits each, with everyone except Harle doubling once in the game. Quinn Hansch and Alaina Friesleben both had a base hit. Askelsen and Nelson had two RBI each and Harle one. Harle, Kendall Lienemann and Jade Larue all crossed the dish twice each, while Askelsen, Kapka, Emma Schluttenhofer and Remi Johnson came home once each.

Friesleben got the win in the circle, allowing only three earned runs on a three-hitter with four walks and three strikeouts.

Prior to that, the ladies lost a 14-2 game at Algona in four innings. Askelsen, Hackley, Harle and Lienemann got the only base hits for the night, with Lienemann driving in a run. Harle and courtesy runner Johnson scored both. Kolb drew a walk. Hackley took the loss, but had three K’s on her stat line.
