Cowgirls defeat South Hardin, lose to Clear Lake

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity boys basketball team opened their home schedule with South Hardin last Tuesday, losing by an 82-69 score to the Tigers. The visitors led 43-32 at the break.

Three players hit double digits in scoring, topped by Christian Gaytan’s 18 points including two treys and a red hot 8 of 8 from the line. Blake Jackson was close behind with 17 points and four buckets from long range. Mateo Martinez pumped in 14 points, with Jaace Weidemann at eight points, Clinton Miller at six points and both Dalton Nesheim and Caleb Krueger at three points each.

Gaytan had a double-double in ripping down 12 rebounds. Weidemann was also busy on the boards, getting 10 for himself. Miller had five rebounds, Jackson and Martinez three each, Nesheim two and Krueger one. Gaytan dished out three assists, with Martinez and Krueger at two each and Jackson and Weidemann at one each. Jackson, Martinez, Gaytan and Weidemann all had one steal each.
