Cowgirls defeat Eagles

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity girls basketball team welcomed neighboring rival Eagle Grove last Thursday for their annual battle, which went to the Cowgirls by a 51-41 final. The home team was up 22-19 at halftime. Courtney Harle knocked down 22 points which included a nice 6 of 8 from the line. Raven Kinnetz scored nine points, Quinn Hansch eight points with two treys, Vanessa Kolb eight points, Emily Kapka two points and both Morgan Middleton and Kylie Greenfield one point each.

Kapka crashed the boards for nine rebounds, with Harle counting up six and both Kinnetz and Kolb five each. Frye got her hands on four caroms, Hansch, Askelsen and Middleton three each and Greenfield two. Kapka dished the pumpkin for four assists, with Kinnetz and Kolb contributing two each. Frye and Askelsen made one apiece. Kinnetz was a demon on defense in grabbing seven steals. Hansch tallied up four, Maya Jackson, Harle and Askelsen two each and Kolb one. Frye, Kolb and Kapka all added a blocked shot apiece to their final lines.

“This was a good game for us,” stated head coach Kevin Kakacek. “Raven, Quinn and Vanessa provided good balanced scoring support for Courtney. We came out and attacked them. We got a little lax in the second and fourth quarters, but we got the win.”
