Cowgirl track & field third at Webster City

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track and field team competed last Thursday in the Lady Lynx Relays in Webster City. The home team took the varsity title with 152 points, followed in order by: Algona 143, C-G-D 116, AGWSR 83, Eagle Grove 53 and Iowa Falls-Alden 40.

“I was happy with third place,” said head coach Monty Harker. “It was our first time to finish that high. It was nice weather, and we saw some teams we haven’t seen yet. They seem to be good where we’re not.”

In field events, Harker mentioned that Mikayla Hennigar scored a personal best (PB) in the discus, with Nelson also having her best throw of the year. Milner recorded her fastest time of the year in the 3000. “She brought it down by quite a bit,” said the head coach. Claire Davis had her best time this year in the 400. “She’s now second in the district,” said Harker. Both Ana Johnson and Megan Zwiefel set their fastest clockings of the season in the 110 hurdles, with Sam Nerem almost at her season best in the 400 hurdles. Shelby Engh lowered her time by 10 seconds in the 1500.
