Cowgirl JV basketball team split two recent games

On Monday, January 20, the Cowgirl JV basketball team won their 11th game of the season 38-15 over Eagle Grove. Emma Conlon poured in 14 points to lead the offensive attack, with Alaina Friesleben following at seven counters and Emma Keller six. Nicole Waters and Lexie Lane netted three points each, Brooke Askelsen and Kaylie Dow two points apiece and Summer Traub rounded in out with one point.

“We really struggled early on with our offense, but finished well in the fourth quarter,” stated coach Paul Hansch. “Once again, we were very good defensively in giving up only four points in the second half.”

The ladies winning streak came to an end of Tuesday as a good Clear Lake team came to town and left with a 44-25 win to take the Cowgirl record to 11-2 for the year Keller dropped eight points through the rims, with Lane scoring six and both Waters and Friesleben three points each. Delia Swanson and Conlon put up two points apiece and Askelsen one point.

“We performed much better than the first time we played them,” said Hansch. “However, they do a lot of things very well, so we have a tough time hanging with them for a whole game.”
