Cowgirl golfers defeat Eagle Grove

Last Tuesday at Oakridge, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf team defeated the Eagle Grove Eagles 219-267 in a varsity only meet. Meghan Geary was medalist with a 51, with teammate Paeten Schultz runner-up with 52. Other varsity counters were Cassy Mendoza 53 and both Emma Konvalinka and Taylor Hagie with identical 63 scores (only one needed to count for team score). Karlie Sellner turned in a 66 as another varsity card. There was no JV meet.

“The weather was great (50’s and sunny) with very little wind,” stated head coach Dan Smith. “It was a good day to play golf. We had our top three scores in a pretty good place, but could not get a fourth score in the 50’s. While we did get the win, moving forward we need four scores totaling near 210 to be as competitive as we would like. Meghan is playing consistent golf for us right now, and both Paeten and Cassy played well. All the girls still need to work on improving their short game."
