Cowboys win games at Pocahontas, SE Valley

On Tuesday night, the red and black stayed on the road for an 86-53 win at Gowrie over Southeast Valley. The Cowboys led 40-29 at halftime, then pulled away during the third quarter to go up 69-41 entering the final period.

Darland was smoking hot on this night, burning up the nets for no less than 34 points on 50 percent from the field and nine bombs from three-point land. Urness had 13 points with a trey included, while Tegtmeyer was close to doubles at nine points. Will Weidemann scored eight points, Martin and Harrington seven points each and Machuca four points. State and Jaace Weidemann finished with two points each.

Harrington cleaned the glass for nine rebounds, with Will getting eight and Tegtmeyer six. Darland got his mitts on four caroms, Martin and State three each and Brier Boyd two. Urness, Machuca, Blake Jackson, Jaace and Max Powers all added one rebound each to the total for the night. Urness dished the pumpkin for five assists, with Will making four and Martin three. Tegtmeyer, Darland and Harrington all had two each, wit Machuca and Ben Rudolph getting one apiece.

In a game not reported on from Monday, January 8, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys varsity team traveled to Pocahontas and came home with an 86-79 win over the Indians.
