Cowboys team second at SE Valley

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows/CAL cross country team started their season in great fashion, as the Cowboys took second place as a team at the Southeast Valley Invitational last Thursday at Gowrie. The Cowgirls finished seventh as a team.

“I love starting the season with this meet each year,” stated head coach Missy Springsteen-Haupt. “As a coach, having an open race with no JV/Varsity distractions makes it the perfect place for a competitive time trial in an actual race setting. With a bunch of new faces on the team this year, we had some awesome surprises for the season opener.”

The Cowboys pulled off a great performance in taking runner-up team honors behind Woodward Academy. Woodward finished with 41 points and had four runners in the top ten, while the Cowboys compiled 69 points with five runners in the top 19 finishers. The rest finished like this: South Central Calhoun 87, St. Edmond 116, Manson NW Webster 124, Southeast Valley 125, West Central Valley 163 and Ridge View 213.
