Cowboys football team moves to 3-0 with win at Estherville

Even though they were challenged a bit more in this game than the first two, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity football team had enough weapons to withstand a strong challenge from Estherville Lincoln-Central (ELC) on the Midgets home field.

The Cowboys left town with a 3-0 record after a 28-14 win.

“This game was an excellent test for us in several ways,” said head coach Paul Hansch. “First, ELC is very big and quite physical up front and that presented a real challenge for us on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Secondly, we turned the ball over twice in the first quarter, which then killed scoring opportunities. Thirdly, the mobility and arm strength of their quarterback is tough to defend against, however I thought our line did an outstanding job even though they were considerably out-sized.”
