Cowboys fall to Lions 40-6

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity football team continues looking for their first win after a 40-6 loss to Clear Lake last Friday at the Lions home field. Their only score came on a one-yard touchdown run by Reymundo Vasquez, who finished with 141 yards on 40 carries.

Alex Machuca gained 38 yards on just three attempts, with Will Weidemann adding a yard on five carries. Jaace Weidemann was seven of 15 thru the air for 46 yards with one interception. Cole Lindeman caught one ball for 31 yards, Bryce Tegtmeyer three for 22 yards, Vasquez one for 15, Matt Beltran one for six and Will two for three yards.

Will led the defensive stats with eight solo tackles and three assists. Sam Johnson had three solo stops, with Lindeman making two solo and three tackle assists. Carter Dietz, Salvador Fregoso, Colby Lienemann, Machuca and Jaace all had one solo tackle apiece, while Carter added five assists, Salvador three assists, Colby two assists and Alex one. Tegtmeyer made two assists and Beltran one. Lindeman had two of his solo tackles for a loss, with Lienemann making one. Dietz and Fregoso each had an assist for loss. Lienemann and Lindaman each made a solo sack, with Dietz and Fregoso making a sack assist.

The Cowboys host Forest City, also winless on the year, this Friday for senior night.
