Cowboys drop game to Webster City

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity boys basketball team hosted Webster City last Friday night, dropping a 59-37 decision to the visiting Lynx. Webster City took a 16-9 lead after a quarter of play and was up 27-17 at the half.

“The Lynx are a very athletic team that likes to exploit mismatches, and they run a press to try to throw off our offensive flow as well as force a few turnovers,” said head coach Scott Herrig. “I thought in the early going we gave up a few good looks to them which then allowed them to jump out to a lead. By the middle two quarters, I thought we did an excellent job of playing half-court defense and limiting their overall scoring opportunities."
