Cowboy wrestlers take two of three duals at Eagle Grove

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling team defeated both Eagle Grove and Forest City, while losing to Lake Mills, in dual meet action last Thursday at Eagle Grove. They won a close 32-25 matchup with the Eagles, and took an easy 71-0 shutout win over the Indians. The Bulldogs proved to be a bit tougher test, resulting in a 45-23 loss.

Versus the Eagles, a fall in 3:04 was recorded by Tanner Abbas (138) while Dakota Hennigar (152), Reymundo Vasquez (182) and Ben Powers (195) all took major decisions for extra points. There was also two Cowboys winning by forfeit.

In the dual with the Indians, Sam Wigans (160) and Vasquez scored pins with Reymundo’s coming in 2:14 for the quickest. Connor Johnson (126) and Chase Murga (132) both put up technical fall points for the team, while Chance Konopasek (113) enjoyed a major decision victory. Six others had their hand raised by forfeit.

Versus the Bulldogs, Wigans again won with a pin (1:52) while Abbas scored an easy 23-8 technical fall victory. Salvador Fregoso (220), Trent McAtee (285), Johnson and Kamren Jergenson (145) all won by decision.
