Cowboy track & field third at Hampton-Dumont

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track & field team took fourth place at last week’s Bison Relays in Buffalo Center. Bishop Garrigan was champ with 130 points, followed in order by Northwood-Kensett 126, Lake Mills 102, Cowboys 90, North Iowa 61 and Newman Catholic 40.

“The night started out good for us, and heading up to about the halfway point we were leading the meet,” said head coach Craig Warnke.

Highlights in the field events included Tristan Mewes placing in both the shot and discus, along with Mason Willey having his best long jump yet this year. “He looked really good,” said Warnke. He felt like the double placing, of Willey first and Bryce Hamilton third, in the 100-meter dash was nice to see. He pointed out that Bret Crees scored his best 110-meter hurdles time of the year. “I was pleased with that (17.54),” said the head coach.
