Cowboy track & field take part in state qualifier
Last Friday in Garner, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track & field team took part in a 2A qualifying meet. Lake Mills was champion with 105 points, followed by: Pocahontas Area 101, Aplington-Parkersburg 96, Forest City 73, Osage 60, Denver 59, Crestwood 54.5, New Hampton 45, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 43, C-G-D 42, Emmetsburg 37 and Eagle Grove 25.5
“I was pleased to see two very deserving athletes qualify for state,” said head coach Craig Warnke. “Ryan and Isaac both made it, and have worked hard for this opportunity. Several other events came close. Just missing out were Nate in discus, the shuttle and the sprint med relays. The medley set a new school record. Personal bests came from Kaden (3200), Isaiah (800), Clinton (400 lows), Kamren (200), Huston (100) and both the 4x8 and 4x1. That’s what you want to see at the qualifier.”
