Cowboy golfers defeat G-H/V, Eagle Grove

Last Tuesday, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf team defeated Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 172-209. Dalton Nesheim was medalist with a 41, followed in counting scores by Will Weidemann at 43 and Zach Martin, Brendon Boyd and Alec Martin all bunched up at 44 each (only two needed to count). Blake Jackson also played a varsity round at 47.

There was no JV meet, but rounds were still played by the following: Dylan Jackson 51, Sam Johnson 56, Matt Jacobsen 57, Brandon Schultz 58, Carter Goodell 66 and Bryce Rasmussen 71.

“We had a very nice day with just a little wind,” said head coach Pat O’Brien. “Really no good excuses for not playing to our potential. Yes, we did leave some strokes out there but not many. That’s golf and certainly golf at the beginning of the season. All in all a good start and a chance to see what we’re capable of. Having five solid scores helps, but we realize that level won’t get us to where we want to be. So far, we have great focus and attitude, which will easily be a factor for our success. Dalton’s and Will’s scores were good starts. We are excited to see where the rest of the season takes us.”
