Cowboy golf team takes second at Algona Invite

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf team hosted Southeast Valley last Tuesday at Clarmond Country Club. In a rare occurrence, both the varsity and junior varsity golfers lost their portion by a tiebreaking fifth golfer score. The varsity meet was tied a 180-180 after all four counting scores were in, but the actual meet final was 229-230 in favor of SE Valley after the fifth score was used to break the tie.

Kenton Waters was medalist, firing a 38. Other counters were Mike Schaffer with 45, Zach Martin with 48 and Trenton Sann with 49. Coming in fifth was Brendon Boyd with 50, followed by Will Weidemann with 53.

The Cowboy JV lost to the Jaguars 283-287 after counting the fifth score. The teams were tied 220-220 after the top four varsity cards were counted. JV scores were: Eryn Ulven 48, Jacob O’Connor 55, Dylan Jackson 56, Trey Jackson 61, Connor Johnson 67 and Brandon Hagie 75.
