Cowboy golf team drops meet at Webster City

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf team traveled to Webster City last Friday to take on the Lynx in a dual meet. The home team prevailed 149-188 in the varsity portion. Zach Martin (45), Dalton Nesheim (46), Will Weidemann (47) and Brendon Boyd (50) carded the counting scores. Other rounds were contributed by Dylan Jackson with 52 and Gage Fazio with 55.

“Not a bad night for golf, a little chilly but not much wind so we’ll take it,” stated head coach Pat O’Brien. “This was a very good Lynx team, and we competed with ourselves with some of us winning and some struggling. We learned a lot, and that was they don’t miss a lot of five-foot and closer putts! They scramble well. We saw the level that we would like to attain, so even though the scores were not where we wanted them we will take the learning experience and hopefully use it in the near future if not next year. We are trying to shore up the last two varsity spots to take us into the postseason. It looks like I’m going to have to make the decision instead of the boys doing it themselves.”
