Cowboy basketball final stats show Urness, Darland on top in scoring

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys basketball team finished the season at 13-11 overall, making it to the district final before losing to South Hamilton. They fashioned a 6-8 record in the NCC, taking fifth place overall and second in the Pride Division. Clear Lake won the title with a 13-1 record, followed by Algona at 11-3 and Webster City at 9-5. Three players were chosen for All-Conference recognition. Sam Urness was named to the 1st Team, Rhett Darland to the 2nd Team and Will Weidemann to the 3rd Team. All three are seniors.

The team scored 1,615 total points for an average of 67.3 points per game. They made 582 out of 1,346 field goals for 43.2 percent, 169 of 505 three-pointers for 33.5 percent and 282 of 437 free throws for 64.5 percent.

Sam Urness scored 431 points on 146 of 314 shots from the field for an average of 18.0 ppg. Rhett Darland scored 430 points on 145 of 351 shots for an average of 17.9 ppg. Zach Martin scored 187 points on 66 of 155 shots for an average of 8.1 ppg. Will Weidemann scored 169 points on 69 of 183 shots for an average of 7.0 ppg. Avery Harrington scored 99 points on 43 of 67 shots for an average of 11.0 ppg.
