Clarion council approves loan agreement

The Clarion City Council welcomed two new members to the city staff during their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 7.

Diane Marty and Ana Lozano are joining the city office staff, with Marty serving as the new Utility Billing Clerk and Lozano Deputy City Clerk “We’re really excited for both of them,” said City Administrator Jordan Cook. Also at the meeting, the board appointed Manny Nel to fill a vacancy in the Board of Adjustments.

In regular business, the council held a public hearing concerning a proposal that would allow the city to borrow up to $310,000 in a general obligation loan. With no comments submitted or from the audience, the hearing was closed and the city passed a resolution to borrow $295,000, of which $215,000 will be used to pay for the city’s new street sweeper with the remainder going towards taking care of dilapidated properties in the community.
