C-G-D cross country teams run at Belmond

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls finished eighth as a team last Tuesday in a meet hosted by Belmond-Klemme. West Fork took the team title with 60 points, followed in the top five of nine complete teams by Forest City at 74, Eagle Grove at 95, Clear Lake at 108 and West Hancock at 120 points. The Cowgirls had 179 points.

Raven Kinnetz was the top finisher for the team, taking 11th in 24:51. She was followed by: Natalie Kirstein at 43rd in 28:46; Alisha Vatne at 47th in 29:12; Makayla Pulido at 52nd in 29:26; Kylie Klaver at 66th in 32:12 and Lauren Hansch at 77th in 35:48. There was no JV race, and no C-G-D middle school runners competed at this meet.

“Raven outkicked a group of four girls to finish strong and just one place out of a medal,” stated head coach Daniel Murray. “Alisha made her cross country debut with a good race. All of the girls improved their places from the two mile mark to the finish.
