Betty Manning

Betty Lou (Lande) Manning, the daughter of Bentley and Anna (Malmanger) Lande, was born on January 11, 1930, in Ames, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth.

On May 3, 1952, Betty was united in marriage with Gerald “Jerry” Manning in Austin, MN. The couple made their home in Clarion, Hampton, Conrad and in 1958, they returned to Clarion to farm west of town. She was very devoted to her husband, Jerry, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2000. They spent many hours dancing together and playing cards with others.

Betty was an active member of Holmes Lutheran Church, providing many decorations including quilted pieces and she greatly enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed traveling, lighthouses, baking, and spending time with her grandsons. She also loved her border collies who were as devoted to her as she was to them.

Betty passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 91 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Archie and Bayerd Lande and two sisters, Elsie Carlson and Selma Scott.

Survivors include her sons: Terry Manning, Rick Manning and Gale Manning; grandsons, Parker and Forest Manning and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield with Pastor Ron Wik officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Holmes Lutheran Church 2139 Hancock Ave.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
