Betty Christensen
Betty Ann (Trotter) Christensen, the daughter of Glen and Bessie (McCutcheon) Trotter, was born March 23, 1930, on a farm northwest of Thor. She attended elementary school in Goldfield and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1948.
On December 4, 1948, Betty was united in marriage with Jerry A. Christensen at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. To this union four children were born, Nancy, Glenda, Scott and Kevin. Together they farmed northwest of Eagle Grove for 17 years and south of Goldfield for several years. Betty and Jerry moved to Goldfield in 1991, where they have lived for 33 years.
Betty was a member of Goldfield United Presbyterian Church where she served as a past elder and enjoyed belonging to United Presbyterian Women and Emma Henry Circle. She was a member of Evergreen Association, sewing club, bridge clubs, 500 card groups and many neighborhood coffees. Betty was well known for her homemade angel food cakes, butter horn rolls and especially her raisin pie.
Betty and Jerry spent many years wintering in Texas and loved traveling to other areas of the United States and foreign countries. Betty’s greatest joy in life was her family, being remembered for her care and concern for everyone. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Betty passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt under the care of St. Croix Hospice at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucille Duitscher; brother, Bernard Trotter; sisters-in-law, Ann Trotter and Euna Christensen and brothers-in-law, Delmar Duitscher and Ed Richardson.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory include her husband, Jerry Christensen of Goldfield; four children: Nancy (John) Lippincott of West Des Moines, Glenda (Dennis) Knight of Humboldt, Scott (Cindy) Christensen of Goldfield and Kevin (Heather) Christensen of Goldfield; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one step grandchild; brother-in-law, Tom Christensen of Gladbrook; sister-in-law, Lois Richardson of Spokane, WA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, at United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield with Pastor Sara Sutter celebrating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
